Pedicures and the kids are cute.

Had amazing pedicures today. Downtown San Salvador all afternoon, saw some sights, ate some food, met some kids. The boy, 6 years old, the son of a neighbour "comedor" (small restaurant) owner who likes to hang out in the beauty shop (although I was quite sure he just was interested in looking at the pale redhead sitting there). The girl, 5 years old, the granddaughter of a lady who sells paper on the side of the street at the entrance of the small (quite old) strip mall where the restaurant and beauty shop are. The girl got a little black rabbit as a gift earlier today. She called it her child. The boy entertained us with his ability to spell and the songs he knew (he sang quite in tune) He held the rabbit over his head to give himself rabbit ears (I had never thought of this myself) she yelled orders at him. She was born prematurely and had an operation at 2 years old to fix her tongue so she could speak. She is small but has the personality of a giant. He is quite smart and gentle. We fell in love with them both.
